The town of Santa Elena is located between the two cloud forest nature reserves in the area: the Monteverde reserve and the Santa Elena reserve. The town was founded by a colony of Quakers from North America and has since taken on a unique, rural cowboy feel. This tour makes for a very long day of travel, but if you have limited time on your Costa Rica vacation and want a chance to see the cloud forest, this is a great way to do it!
